Greece is the Word... on Repatriation. Last but not least, Socrates Sourvinos, Consulate General of Greece in San Francisco, and Delia Violante, Associate Director and Founder of the Art, Law, and Finance Project at University of California, Berkeley, explored the repatriation of cultural heritage with the case of the Parthenon Marbles. “The importance is not just a collection of stand-alone statues but it is a monument that must be viewed in its entirety. That is why it is important to reunite the sculptures. [...] It is not the setting so much as the sense of unity.�� The Acropolis Museum was created to house the missing statues and to look out to the natural setting of the monument. As much as advancing technology and AI can restructure the Parthenon Marbles, it is important to have the real, physical artworks returned to retain cultural heritage. “We are open to constructive dialogue. The art world is changing and the work within it is also impacted. Adine Varah, General Counsel at SFMOMA San Francisco Museum of Modern Art shared the museum’s latest updates such as the current collaboration with Creative Growth Art Center, the new Art of Noise exhibition, and the upcoming Get in the Game show.
