#Base4NFDI is always interested in getting involved in our community. Many of our team members attend events organised by NFDI consortia or related initiatives. 🗣 In June 2024, our Service Steward for PID4NFDI, Jana Tatscheck, visited the #PIDfest in Prague at the Czech National Library of Technology (NTK), along with the PID4NFDI team.  PIDfest is a newly established international conference series solely dedicated to persistent identifiers (PIDs), their usage, further development and community networking. This year it was hosted for three days by i.a., NTK and the ARDC (Australian Research Data Commons) and was the first of many PIDfests to come. As PIDs are a working example of all FAIR principles, they are a vital piece of infrastructure and crucial for its implementation in Research Data Management (RDM) and Open Science. In addition to the persistence, PIDs' rich metadata are yet to be discovered and require more attention and awareness in the future. The #PID4NFDI team presented their project in context of the German national PID strategy pursued by the PID Network Deutschland e.V.  and discussed their ideas in multiple unconference sessions. 📢 #Base4NFDI is delighted to announce that the #BasicService proposal nfdi[dot]software has been accepted for funding of the Initialisation Phase following the Consortia Assembly’s decision! 🎉 nfdi[dot]software aims to design, implement, and test a central marketplace for research software to improve the accessibility of #NFDI research data via domain-specific software and enable more complex reuse of metadata and software. Congratulations to the Basic Service team! 🍀 With the new basic service, we are one step closer to facilitating an open science landscape and #OneNFDI. Whereas some of the services are widely available, others are barricaded within VPNs or otherwise inaccessible for a wider audience. Our ambition is to improve the user experience by offering a centralized service to extend the reach of Jupyter to a broader audience within the NFDI and beyond. Our #BaseFact of the week focuses on… 🌟 #TS4NFDI 🌟 Terminologies are essential in semantically linking research data management (RDM) across disciplines by providing consensus definitions of entities, ensuring conceptual alignment despite differing nomenclature. Standardized terminologies enhance interoperability and data integration, making data more reusable across various sources and disciplines. NFDI consortia work with terminologies at varying levels of maturity and FAIRness, using them to annotate and link research through different services and tools. 🔗📚 The Basic Service TS4NFDI (Terminology Services for the National Research Data Infrastructure) is currently in the Initialisation Phase. The aim of the service is to standardise and harmonise terminology management within the #NFDI framework. It facilitates consensus-building and ensures interoperability of research data across various disciplines. It’s time to introduce you to our currently funded services, starting with… 🌟 #IAM4NFDI 🌟 IAM4NFDI is concerned with connecting and expanding existing and emerging Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems 💫 This is sought to be done in a way that researchers from different domains and institutions are able to access digital resources within #NFDI as easily as possible, including access to and exchange with external infrastructures and resources like the European Open Science Cloud (#EOSC) 🌍 A decentralised, federated IAM is required. This way, users from approx. 400 German research and higher education institutions plus ca. 5000 home organisations worldwide – number increasing – will be able to access services and resources provided by the NFDI Community Authentication & Authorisation Infrastructure (AAI). 🙆♀️ 🙆♂️ To learn more about the IAM4NFDI service, please visit our project website here: https://lnkd.in/guRgdPH9

DMPs - a vital cog in the Open Science landscape: Today Base4NFDI - Basic Services for the NFDI kicked off the DMP4NFDI project in its first phase of the Base cycle. The service aims to align the very diverse needs of the NFDI consortia via a number of activities: centrally hosting the well-established RDMO tool, creating templates and guidance, and identifying the many DMP activities and requirements across the NFDI consortia.
