Curious about how we're making strides in digital equity across Arizona? Maricopa County is one of the biggest forces leading the way: https://www.maricopa.gov/ The county has played a key role in developing the Arizona Broadband Map, a tool that provides a detailed, area-specific overview of broadband connectivity throughout the state. This map is crucial for helping communities and leaders pinpoint areas needing better internet access. The need for broadband is not defined by county borders, and thanks to Maricopa County’s support, this resource benefits every corner of the state. As a cornerstone AZ-1 partner, their work shows how collaboration and shared resources can drive statewide progress that impacts the lives of millions. About us
AZ-1 (pronounced as one) is a web portal for engaged citizens and community organizations, where the efforts across the state are curated into a centralized location to make it easier for the community to find what they are looking for, in order to achieve digital equity faster in the state of Arizona. Our mission is to improve broadband access and digital skills in Arizona. Together, a coalition of organizations contribute to this repository of resources on broadband expansion, digital equity + inclusion efforts, and opportunities across the state for everyone in Arizona to learn, share, and advance on closing the digital divide and improving broadband access. Developed as a shared resource through ASU’s Maricopa County Broadband Initiative, AZ-1 provides insights into the current state of internet access, share relevant socioeconomic factors, and aid in the identification of areas that could benefit from digital equity outreach. A centerpiece of AZ-1 is a custom, dynamic map that visually represents broadband connectivity across the County to help inform city and community planning. The AZ-1 web portal was created and is maintained through ASU’s Maricopa County Broadband Initiative.

"We are stronger together; NTIA encourages partnerships that centers the voices of the covered populations in co-creating solutions that meet their needs." -Angela Thi Bennett, Digital Equity Director at NTIA We are stronger together, indeed! 💪 We're proud that National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is a partner within the AZ-1 coalition. 🤝 Located within the U.S. Department of Commerce, NTIA is the Executive Branch agency that is principally responsible by law for advising the President on telecommunications and information policy issues. NTIA’s programs and policymaking focus largely on expanding broadband Internet access and adoption in America, expanding the use of spectrum by all individuals, and ensuring that the Internet remains an engine for continued innovation and economic growth. These goals are critical to the U.S's competitiveness in the 21st century global economy and to address many of the nation’s most pressing needs, such as improving education, health care, and public safety. Thank you for all you do for #Arizona and the nation, NTIA! Interested in joining our coalition? 📩 Get in touch: az1webportal@gmail.com

Did you know that AZ-1 (pronounced "as one") has created a custom map to represent broadband connectivity across Maricopa County? 🗺 The map, freely accessible at https://lnkd.in/gA4X_azv, is helping to inform city and community planning. But what makes this map so significant? 📉 It combines multiple data sources to more accurately reflect the complexity of internet connectivity and access. For starters, the map layers are helping us better understand the intersection between persistent poverty and low broadband subscription rates. Insights have revealed crucial insights about areas where economic challenges might compound without digital inclusion efforts.
