Wyatt is why we're here. #MissionMonday: Wyatt, a combat veteran came to #CodeofSupport amid a substance abuse battle that stemmed from untreated PTSD and TBI. Here's how we got him treatment just ten days after his initial application. ⬇️ Wyatt expressed that he did not want inpatient treatment but knew he needed help. His Case Manager listened to his concerns and connected him to a treatment program tailored specifically to veterans where Wyatt felt treated with dignity and respect. We worked with @avalonactionalliance to secure funding for the treatment program, remove financial barriers, and get Wyatt the critical support he needed. ❤️

Steve didn’t create the career path that led to his current position. Misfortune did. A severe car accident set his journey in motion and brought him to our #AlliancePartner, the Haley Brain Wellness Program in Jacksonville to receive three weeks of intensive therapy for a traumatic brain injury (#TBI).   Whether fate or divine intervention, the experience landed Steve where he wanted to be professionally. The US Navy veteran became an avid supporter of the program, calling it three weeks that “changed his life".   This March, two years after his program graduation, Steve stepped in as director. “I couldn’t be more grateful to be here,” he said. “I don’t call this a job, I love it. It’s almost the perfect unification of my skills, my talents and then my passion, which is to work with veterans and first responders and help them heal those invisible wounds – I am very familiar with those.” Steve is a great example that with a community who cares, better days are ahead. #betterdays #wecare #newbeginnings #ChooseGrowth

Today is #WomenVeteransDay and we proudly stand with every #woman who has served our country. The contributions of women and the unique hurdles they've overcome inspires us every day. For women like Maurisah, that service came with wounds that were hidden. But she decided to #ChooseGrowth. “The person I know myself to be deep down inside [was] hiding inside of a shell that was built to protect my emotions. I was missing out on life. That changed with Avalon's support, and now I'm feeling more like me each day". Our hope, especially on a day like today, is that women everywhere feel more like themselves every single day.
