  • Sisters stick together at Atria Anchor Pointe! Helen, Joyce and Jean spent their childhoods living together on their familly's farm in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Now, all these years later, they find themselves living together again, this time at the same senior living community. "I lived here first and encouraged the others to move in," shared Helen, who moved in five years ago. Joyce, the middle sister, joined her a year later, and Jean, the youngest, followed two years after that. Living together again has not only brought the sisters closer, but also means their large families get to see each other more often. Their favorite part about living in their community is the programming. They participate in every event and can be seen eating their meals together as well. And as sisters do, they look after each other. The ladies have even organized a weekly Saturday night Rummoli game. We hear it is serious business, so you better bring plenty of pennies if you want to join in.

  • Cupid’s arrow struck Bob and Phyllis 66 years ago when they first met at a local grocery store. At the time, they didn't know love was in their future. They reconnected a couple of years later through a little matchmaking by their relatives, who encouraged them to attend the New Year’s Eve Dance together. It's where they discovered that they loved dancing to rock ‘n’ roll music. Once they started going steady, Phyllis bought a necklace with a letter “B” pendant to symbolize that Bob was taken. Two years later, in 1961, they were married. Congratulations on 62 years of marriage to these Atria Ironwood Estates sweethearts, Bob & Phyllis! 💖

  • "The Baby Story Time program is amazing! It brings back memories from when my daughters were babies and when they had their babies. What an absolute joy the little ones bring to all of us," said Jean, a resident of Atria Ironwood Estates. This intergenerational program gives residents, new moms, babies, and sometimes even the residents' dogs a chance to learn, laugh and enjoy time together. It takes a village to raise a child, and the residents at Atria Ironwood Estates are delighted to create fond memories for these little ones. "I love when they reach out their arms to me and clap their hands, getting so excited," Jean adds. We love seeing residents create a space for their local community to come together.

  • "I love the theatre," shares Dee, a resident of Atria Anchor Pointe. She enjoys seeing local plays, like the ones put on yearly at the Shaw Festival, where she and her fellow residents recently enjoyed a production of Brigadoon. "The show was good. It was a beautiful production," Dee added. "The outings are always well organized, and our abilities are taken into consideration. Our Engage Life team puts our minds at ease and assists us if we need help. We always have a good time with them."

  • Atria Churchill Manor recently celebrated Will and Mary on their 66th wedding anniversary! ❤️ "We first met at church. Then Will invited me on a date to a coffee shop," shared Mary. While they admit that the first five years of marriage were the hardest, they found happiness in their relationship with each other and God. Congratulations, Will and Mary!

  • "Oh, Cinder is a sweetie," exclaimed Polly, a resident of Atria Kingsdale Chateau. Cinder is a large Newfoundland therapy dog that visits the community weekly. Polly adds, "he is well-trained and well-behaved. He is a service dog and does his job well." Cinder's relaxed and loving demeanor brings joy to the residents. Seeing photos of Cinder's recent visit brightened our day, too!

  • Join us in celebrating 107 amazing years of Mildred! Looking back on her life, she recalls horse and buggy rides and the hard work on her family's apple orchard. "There was a lot of hoe, hoe, hoeing and picking weeds," she reminisces. A loving sister and devoted wife for 67 years, Mildred embraced motherhood, working as a nurse aide and doing crafts like needle tatting. Leslie, Engage Life Coordinator at Atria Ironwood Estates, shares that Mildred has such a great wit about her and a wonderful sense of humor. "She is always giggling and teasing the gentlemen, telling them that she must keep them in line. Mildred says she likes everybody at Ironwood Estates, and everyone at Ironwood Estates adores her!" Mildred's daughter Joy credits her mother’s long life to her spunk and good genes. “She’s a very determined individual, she keeps us on our toes.”
