Associated General Contractors of America - Houston Chapter

About us

The Associated General Contractors of America, the voice of the construction industry, is an organization of qualified construction contractors and industry related companies dedicated to skill, integrity and responsibility. The association provides a full range of services satisfying the needs and concerns of its members, thereby improving the quality of construction and protecting public interest. Since 1923, AGC Houston members, design firms and owners in the Houston commercial building industry have benefited from the services provided by AGC Houston. Our members remain the most well-informed business partners in the construction industry by utilizing the services available to assist them in delivering projects that fully meet owners' expectations. Through AGC Houston, members avail themselves to a wide-range of services that would be costly or unavailable on an individual basis. These services help them deliver their construction services without unnecessary, costly distractions that can eventually impact the owner. AGC Houston's services are developed by contractors and industry professionals who know first-hand what is needed to make a project successful for the owner and other members of the team. Being able to tap into the hundreds of AGC services (local, state and national) allows member firms to devote their attention to the project without having to invent their own solutions to common problems. This is to the AGC member's advantage that transfers to the project and the owner. AGC Houston, one of 100 chapters nationwide, has 1,000 members consisting of general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and service firms. Nationally, AGC represents more than 33,000 firms, including 7,500 of America's leading general contractors, and 12,000 specialty-contracting firms. Over 14,000 service providers and suppliers are also associated with AGC, through a nationwide network of chapters.

Two post disaster #HawaiianShirtFridays videos are more than I ever wanted to do...but here we are! Hope everyone is doing alright in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl this week. Still no power at the AGC Office, or at many of our staff's houses, but we're still available for our members (just bear with us if replies are delayed!). It sounds like most of our members put their Hurricane Preparedness Plans to the test on jobsites this week and came out alright, but obviously the power outages are still having an impact on everybody. Be sure to check out the AGC Houston page, as we're posting updates with resources for anyone needing help in any way!

On behalf of AGC Houston, we'd like to wish you a happy and safe 4th of July! Our office will be closed on Thursday, July 4th, and Friday, July 5th, in observance of the holiday. As always, safety is our number one priority! Here are some tips for safely using fireworks to help ensure an injury-free celebration this Fourth of July: - Never allow children under 5 to handle fireworks. - Closely supervise older children while using sparklers and never allow them to light explosive fireworks. - Light only one firework at a time and maintain a safe distance. - Wear protective eyewear when lighting fireworks. - Never hold lighted fireworks in your hands. - Never point fireworks at another person. - Never try to relight malfunctioning fireworks. - Soak spent and unused fireworks in a bucket of water overnight.
