As technology continues to advance, particularly in healthcare, the role of artificial intelligence (AI) is often debated. A recent article by Barry Bottino on Nurse.com explores whether AI could ever replace nurses, highlighting the unique human qualities essential to nursing that AI simply cannot replicate. From the irreplaceable human connections formed to the nuanced understanding of patient needs, nurses bring empathy, ethical reasoning, and emotional intelligence to their roles—attributes that AI, despite its advancements, cannot mimic. Artisight understands the essential role nurses play in patient communication, ethical decision-making, and emotional support, and why technologies such as virtual nursing can only help (and never replace) them. Read more on why the nursing profession is about so much more than just tasks that could potentially be automated. https://bit.ly/3zE3xhY #HealthcareAI #VirtualNursing #ClinicianBurnout #HealthInnovation #Nursing

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) has finalized a new rule requiring healthcare AI developers to provide more transparency about their products. This includes disclosing information about funding, training data, bias prevention measures, validation, and intended use cases. Micky Tripathi, head of the ONC, believes this rule will encourage higher quality AI tools and greater adoption by healthcare providers. By providing more visibility into available AI solutions, clinicians can make informed decisions about reliability and workflow compatibility. At Artisight, we applaud the ONC’s initiatives surrounding transparency. We are and will continue to be fully compliant. A recent study by NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing highlights the critical importance of workplace support and mental health in retaining nursing staff. The research, conducted across 36 U.S. states, found that coworker and employer support significantly impacted job satisfaction, while depression symptoms were linked to intentions to leave. As healthcare faces ongoing staffing challenges, these findings offer valuable insights for leaders looking to improve nurse retention and well-being –– one of our core missions at Artisight.
