What can I expect from the program?
The conference programming will address the following areas: accessibility, audience development, belonging and inclusion, community engagement, innovation and adaptation, leadership, organizational development, staff well-being, sustainability and financial health, and more.
Sessions and workshops will emphasize case studies, real-world examples, dynamic presentations, and thoughtful experts. Our committee is dedicated to developing a program which provides not just knowledge acquisition, but space to synthesize and network with your colleagues.
With more than thirty sessions and workshops in development, here is a sneak peek of just a few we’ve been working on:
- A workshop on curatorial justice and practicing your programming values with Karim Ahmad of Restoring the Future
- A session on narrating our post-COVID recovery to our communities, alongside deeper conversations on resilience, redefining success, and how to sustain change
- A presentation on the popular Science on Screen grant program, with audience development case studies by participating theaters
- An in-depth look at our Economic Impact and Audience Reach through a study led by Keri Putnam with support from Sara Archambault at Harvard's Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy and internal studies facilitated by Art House Convergence and Film Festival Alliance
- A workshop on strategies and best practices for accessibility at your organization
- A session building a lab program and how filmmaker education can deepen your impact and reach
- A session on building a culture of philanthropy at your organization, across all departments and levels, to increase staff engagement and develop trust
- A session diving into succession planning, going beyond top leadership and addressing institutional knowledge at all levels
- A skills-based workshop covering onboarding and off-boarding workers, from seasonal to temporary to permanent full-time folks, digging into the logistics and best practices involved
- A session on where our marketing dollars are going, with best practices on customer acquisition versus customer retention
- A workshop on building a sustainable workflow for print traffic, whether you are a single-day festival or a year-round art house
