23% of us are sandwich generation, caring for multiple people under and over the age of 18 at the same time — and feeling all the good and not-so good that comes with it. All that heads down, getting stuff done 24/7 for everyone else but ourselves can get really intense. Mental health impacts for sandwichers are DOUBLE (!!) those of other generation groups. Thinking, 'um, yes, this me'? Now might be a good time to get your score. You'll see exactly what's contributing to any intensity you might be feeling. Plus, you'll get connected to the stuff that can help bring it down. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gjD3aC7X Sharing our stories is one way we spread our wings over other Archangels. Big love to Natalie Serianni for sharing hers and Scary Mommy for being a space where those of us who care a lot can find validation and support. cc: 143 Communications
ARCHANGELS
Hospitals and Health Care
Women-owned, omni-channel platform hustling to make change happen for unpaid caregivers across the nation.
About us
ARCHANGELS is a movement and a platform that leverages multiple channels to identify, thank, and support caregivers by connecting them to the caregiver infrastructure that already exists, but that most caregivers don’t know about – and in the process improves the health of individuals, their loved ones, and the broader community. We believe that caregivers are our countries unsung heroes, that under-utilized resources exist to support them, and that retail is the front line of health. Our goal is to be the trusted resource to support caregivers throughout the US, and, in the process, reframe how caregivers are perceived, and supported.

Sending big love to everyone relentlessly hustling on behalf of unpaid caregivers everywhere — including this super small sampling of a few of our favorite champions on this effort recently…folks with whom we’ve gotten to share a stage on this MIGHTY and all-important topic. We’re looking at you Meena Seshamani Sec. Lauren Jones Jonathan Perlin Sarah Iselin Richard Lynch Lisa Murray JD Chesloff Brooke M. Thomson Darshak Sanghavi Simmi Singh Rob Fields Amber Slichta Misha Stallworth West Jason Resendez Doris Green Sharon Cackett Ann Marie Cook Paula Cerqueira, MS, RD, LDN Jake Krilovich ARCH National Respite Network and Resource Center, Healthcare Executives Leadership Network (HELN), Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts, and Massachusetts Business Roundtable…thank you for the space to share the low-lift, HIGH-IMPACT data-driven ways states, employers, plans, systems, and brands are changing the lives of those they serve — and, by extension, their own bottom lines. 'Cause caring for those who care checks ALL the boxes. If you’re doing something to support unpaid caregivers, THANK YOU. Making change happen is 🔥🔥🔥 #UnpaidCaregivers #AnyCareCounts #LFG

Articles like this end up in our inboxes a lot — forwarded from our friends with something like a “WTH did you see this?” This article was sent to us more than any before it. Unpaid caregivers are everywhere...high school halls, in middle school cafeterias. Kids are caring — stepping up (and in) to help others — no matter what. In fact, 66% of youth caregivers are ‘in the red’ — feeling the most intensity in this role. Huge shoutout to Ansberry Clare for spotlighting youth caregivers. Visibility is step one in taking data-informed action to drive impact for Archangels of all ages. via The Wall Street Journal

"We need to expand the definition of health to include life. 'Cause when life goes wrong, health goes wrong." -- Alexandra Drane One of the single biggest opportunities to improve healthcare in the U.S.? Supporting unpaid caregivers — as healthcare systems, employers, brands, communities, and peer-to-peer. Caring a lot can take a toll — 70% of us have at least one mental-health impact and, for those of us with our own chronic conditions, showing up for others makes it even harder for us to put on our own air masks. An easy step one: take two minutes and find out your Intensity Score and get connected to things that can help. https://lnkd.in/dHkkCHac Big love to GBH for having us and to Susannah Fox and Allen Sussman for sharing our ferocity in doing all we can to help humans do what they do best — care.

Sharing the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference stage with Corbin Petro, Seth Moulton, Will Blodgett, and Nate Silver AND geeking out about using data for good? A real ‘pinch me' moment. At the heart of all of it is the combination of powerful data and recognizing the humanity that data represents. Using that to create impact for unpaid caregivers everywhere? We’re obsessed. #SSAC24 #PowerOfSports

Free at 5 p.m. ET today? Hang out with us at the virtual Cambridge Forum! We will be tackling that ever-present (and sticky) question: how do we make change (for good) happen in our healthcare system — with Susannah Fox and Allen Sussman. Register here: https://lnkd.in/g_5WQ9cT One thing we know for sure? Patients are caregivers, too. Having the data and language to describe what we’re going through, especially if we’re in both these roles, can make a big difference in getting the care and support we need. cc: GBH

Such a massive honor to be a part of the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference this Friday as ARCHANGELS CEO, Alexandra Drane, shares the stage with Corbin Petro (!), Seth Moulton (!), Will Blodgett (!), and Nate Silver (!) for a conversation that is completely foundational to our core mission: using an omni-channel, data-driven platform to make change happen for unpaid #caregivers everywhere. It's gonna be 🔥!

This is one of those performances that, once you see it, you can’t unsee (in all the good ways). It reminds us that we’re all way more alike than we are different…even if sometimes we care about different things, the point is we all care. Finding the places where that care overlaps? That has the power to connect — and even heal — us all.

The title of this article should really be: 'Hey – sandwich generation caregivers? This article is a MUST READ – because it’s about you and YOUR financial/emotional/physical future.' And WHEN you read it, please read it with two hats: For yourself. It's a heads-up on something that's impacting a lot of us, including in the ways Rita Choula of AARP underscores. Bottom line: the sandwich generation will bear the cost of a systemic lack of foresight and planning. We spend most of our waking hours on that very thing – and can share a good 30% of us are ‘in the red’ right now (aka experiencing the highest levels of intensity… which has some great bits, and less great ones). Second, for those you serve. Resources do exist - often ‘free’ (aka paid for by the state, an employer, a health plan, a health system…). Are they perfect? No – but they are a start… and we're obsessed with making sure Archangels (our term for an unpaid caregiver) KNOW they exist and how to access them. Creating ROI for things you've already invested in for your community? Yes, please. Showing up for unpaid #caregivers / #archangels? Even better. via Business Insider by ANN C. “In the end, humans are doing the best they can — they are worrying over the exact same things — just different versions of them and the central most foundational element of all of it is care…how we care for others, and how we work to/hope to/try to find care ourselves. That’s caregiving. That’s ARCHANGELS. And whether we are doing it for the social impact, or because it’s the single largest market opportunity in our nation, it’s all the same. We’re doing it.” - Alexandra Drane via Authority Magazine
