Disaster, Biomedical, Services to the Armed Forces, International, and Training Services: it's about lifting people.
About us
With offices in Ogden, Layton, Salt Lake City, Orem, Springville, and St. George, and volunteers from nearly every county, the American Red Cross of Utah serves more than 3.2 million people across the nearly 85,000 square miles, statewide. Our mission here and everywhere is to "...prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors." And doing it, we adhere to the following guiding values and principles: The American Red Cross, through its strong network of volunteers, donors and partners, is always there in times of need. We aspire to turn compassion into action so that... ...all people affected by disaster across the country and around the world receive care, shelter and hope; ...our communities are ready and prepared for disasters; ...everyone in our country has access to safe, lifesaving blood and blood products; ...all members of our armed services and their families find support and comfort whenever needed; and ...in an emergency, there are always trained individuals nearby, ready to use their Red Cross skills to save lives. How do you like your #smores? Lightly toasted? Burnt to a crisp? Either way, you should always be mindful when starting a campfire! We’re more susceptible to wildfires out here in the desert. Keep these campfire safety tips in mind: 🔥 Never start a fire on a windy day 🔥 Never leave a campfire unattended 🔥 Always douse your fire with water or smother with dirt before leaving 🔥 Only start campfires in appropriate pits Remember — the safest wildfire is one that never starts. Donor Highlight: This week Mark Loosi hit 112 pints of blood donated, that's more than 14 gallons! He donated in Draper at a blood drive this week with the help of our wonderful phlebotomist Cheyenne. Mark said, "You know, our family never had a major medical trauma, but that's really why I started donating. I wanted to serve my community members and help out where I can. And this is such an easy way to save a life!" Thank you Mark for your dedication; we'll see you at your next donation! Schedule your donation today at redcrossblood.org.

Regional CEO Heidi Ruster sat down with ABC4 Utah - Utah's CW30 (KTVX/KUCW) Sarah Murphy to talk about the emergency blood shortage impacting the country. We saw a staggering decrease of 25% in July, that's over 19,000 donations. The blood coming in is not keeping pace with hospitals' demand for blood. We need your help! Donors can easily book an appointment through the Red Cross Blood Donor App, by visiting redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). As a token of appreciation, all donors visiting between Aug. 1-31, 2024, will receive a $20 Amazon.com Gift Card via email. https://lnkd.in/gcdqUmba
