🌍 Make a global impact by welcoming an exchange student to your family! 🌏 The Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Program and Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program offer merit-based scholarships from the U.S. Department of State to incredible young people. Host a student like Girts from Latvia, an athletic multi-instrumentalist, or Shukrona from Tajikistan, an ecology enthusiast eager to experience American culture and cuisine. While in the U.S., these students live with volunteer host families, participate in school activities, engage in community service, and learn about life in America. Thank you, Angi Yoder-Maina, Ph.D. of the FSU Resilience Institute for working with our BridgeUSA fellows. This healing-centered education is so vital in dealing with the trauma caused by the brutal invasion of Ukraine. The BridgeUSA Ukrainian Academic Fellows Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) with additional funding provided by U.S. host institutions. The program is administered by the American Councils for International Education. #InnovatingLearning | Florida State University

On July 8, American Councils for International Education organized an Ambassadorial briefing at Ukraine House in Washington, DC. The event, “War, Democracy, and Parliament: Ukraine 2024”, featured the Chairman of Ukraine’s parliament (Verkhovna Rada) who discussed the critical importance of strengthening the Ukrainian parliament and the country’s vibrant democracy. Chairman Stefanchuk commended the USAID Program RADA: Next Generation, a joint initiative by Internews Ukraine and USAID aimed at enhancing the Verkhovna Rada's efficiency as a democratic institution serving the Ukrainian people. He also expressed his outrage at the Russian bombing of the Kyiv Children’s hospital earlier that day. American Councils’ President and CEO, Ms. Lisa Choate, reiterated to the Chairman the organization’s continued dedication to supporting the Verkhovna Rada's development as a more open and accessible institution. American Councils’ role in the RADA: Next Generation program is to empower and enhance the capacity of the Parliamentary Education Center (PEC), promote inter-unit collaboration within the Verkhovna Rada, and foster a PEC that is well-networked, engaged, and valued by both the Verkhovna Rada and Ukrainian citizens. American Councils is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to strengthening parliamentarism and civic engagement in Ukraine. The USAID RADA: Next Generation Program, running from 2021 to 2026, is implemented by a consortium led by Internews Ukraine, represented at the event by Amb. Marten Ehnberg, in cooperation with American Councils for International Education, the International Republican Institute, the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), the Agency of Education Policy Development, and the Center of Policy and Legal Reform (CPLR). This program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and executed by Internews Ukraine. #ACGlobal #USAID #RADAUkraine #Ukraine #UkraineHouse

We love a red, white, and blue photoshoot, and these Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Program finalists from #Czechia, #Hungary, and #Slovakia truly embraced the spirit! During their Pre-departure Orientation (PDO) last week, FLEX participants engaged in sessions on American high school life and living with host families. They explored cultural differences, participated in a stimulating scavenger hunt, and formed lasting connections with fellow students. Congratulations to the FLEX finalists on completing your PDO. American Councils looks forward to welcoming you to the United States soon. FLEX is a highly competitive, merit-based scholarship program funded by the U.S. Department of State that operates in Armenia, Azerbaijan, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. Over 35,000 students compete annually in multiple rounds of testing to earn a FLEX scholarship, which provides for them to spend an academic year in the United States living with a volunteer host family and attending a U.S. high school where they learn about the U.S. and Americans firsthand, and to teach Americans about their countries #FLEX #ACGlobal #FLEX30 #FLEXHungary #FLEXCzechia #FLEXSlovakia #ExchangeOurWorld #4thofJuly #america #redwhiteandblue Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Program
