Jonas Nursing, a leading supporter of doctoral nursing education in the U.S., and AACN are thrilled to announce the 2024-2026 cohort of Jonas Scholars, consisting of 63 promising doctoral students from 25 states. Through next-generation family leadership, the Jonas Scholars program continues to play a significant role in addressing the nation’s shortage of nursing faculty, a leading barrier to expanding student capacity in schools of nursing. Since its launch in 2006, this signature program of Jonas Philanthropies has invested more than $28 million in nearly 1,500 nurse scholars in all 50 states. Implementing the Essentials and making the move to competency-based education isn’t just an opportunity to improve how nursing students learn—it’s an opportunity for faculty to learn new skills and methodologies as well. Audrey Beauvais, DNP, MSN, MBA, RN, Associate Dean and Associate Professor in the Fairfield University School of Nursing and Health Sciences, said that faculty at her school are eager to learn new ways to improve education. “Our faculty are excited to be able to innovate and think outside the box about what activities will help them improve the competencies of future nurses.” Learn more about Fairfield University’s journey to implement the Essentials and move to CBE:
