About us
ABOUT OUR CHAPTER - 206.363.5500 The Western and Central Washington State Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association was incorporated as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization in Washington State in 1978 and merged with the Inland Northwest Chapter in 2015. We were started by family caregivers who came together around a common need of getting support and help for their loved ones with dementia. Our Chapter was one of seven founding chapters of the National Alzheimer's Association, headquartered in Chicago. Today our Chapter serves individuals living with Alzheimer's disease (and related dementias), their families, health care professionals and administrators, and the general public throughout a 23 county service area that runs from the Canadian to the Oregon borders. OUR VISION A world without Alzheimer's disease OUR MISSION To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. You can call us any time of the day or night and get advice and information about the many issues and challenges of caregiving and about dementia. A call to our HelpLine is all it takes. 1.800.272.3900

#WhyIWalk 💜 Every day, Lisa sees firsthand how this disease affects individuals and their loved ones. She knows the toll it takes on family caregivers and those who are close to the person living with the disease watch them go through this. But amid the sorrow, she finds inspiration in the help she can provide. "This disease has taken so much from them but they are so much more than just someone living with Alzheimer's. I love hearing their stories about their lives from them or their family," says Lisa, "They've done so much to give back and care for others, the least we can do is give them the care and dignity they deserve now." Lisa walks to support research that aims to find a cure for Alzheimer's and all other dementias. "I walk to prevent future generations from having to go through this terrible disease. The dedication of the individuals doing research and those involved in research studies gives me so much hope for the future." Join her at the Everett Walk on October 5th and read more of her story in our latest blog! https://lnkd.in/g7HgqP55 💜 💜 💜 💜 Find your local walk at alzwa.org/walk.

This past Sunday, we had the privilege of joining our partners at GenPride in the 50th Seattle Pride Parade as the Grand Marshal! ❤️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜 Thank you, GenPride, for this inspiring opportunity to be a part of this wonderful event. Alzheimer's doesn't discriminate and until we can create a world without Alzheimer's, we'll fight for a world where everyone has equal access to the healthcare they need and deserve! We are committed to creating safe and supportive spaces within our organization and beyond, where everyone can thrive and be their authentic selves, even in the face of such challenges ❤️ 🧡 💛 💚 💙 💜 Find resources specific to our LGBTQ+ community at https://lnkd.in/efymZFC

🎉🚨Breaking News!🚨🎉
Breaking News: The FDA has granted approval of Kisunla (donanemab) for the treatment of people living with early symptomatic Alzheimer’s disease. We celebrate Kisunla’s approval as more options mean greater opportunity for more time. This is the third approval of an Alzheimer’s treatment that changes the underlying course of the disease. bit.ly/3XIyyvf

Last week, our team was invited to a special Check Presentation Ceremony at Subaru Tacoma. The team at Subaru Tacoma selected the Alzheimer's Association Washington State Chapter to be their "Charity of Choice" in the nationwide "Share the Love" campaign! 💜🚗 As a result, they raised $37,000 to contribute to the fight to #ENDALZ! This incredible contribution will help families in our community facing Alzheimer's receive the support they need and help advance research working to provide treatments and, ultimately, find a cure for this terrible disease! Thank you, Subaru Tacoma! 🎊💜 #ENDALZ
