Connecticut has a new Alzheimer's Association® - funded researcher: Gawon Cho . Gawon Cho of Yale has received a grant to better understand a fluid system that removes waste from the brain during sleep, and it’s relationship to Alzheimer’s disease. Gawon is pursuing this research as she watched three grandparents decline with dementia. "Eventually, I want to turn this into a larger study that will inform the targets of intervention that are related to sleep and metabolic waste (in the brain), and help reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease." Thank you for your work, Gawon. Watch this space as we bring you information next week from the biggest dementia research conference in the world, AAIC! #dementia #alzheimers #research #AAIC24

He has served on a number of non-profit boards and is now caring for his wife who has memory issues. “It’s very daunting trying to navigate what’s going on…I feel getting involved with the Association is better than sitting back. Please welcome author, speaker and consultant, Lisa Marshall of Oh Hello Alzheimer's to our CT Chapter Board of Advisors! "I'm honored and thrilled to link arms with these incredibly driven board members and contribute what I've learned through my own experiences with Alzheimer’s Disease caring for my husband, Peter. My passion is three-pronged: reducing caregiver stress, advocating for families and fundraising. Encouraging self-care for the entire family creates a ripple effect that ultimately benefits the person challenged with Alzheimer’s through compassionate care. Through educational speaking engagements and fundraising, I can inform families of the many resources The Alzheimer's Association provides." Welcome Lisa and thank you for all you do! #volunteer #board #giveback #alzheimers #dementia
