In a large research study, reported for the first time at #AAIC24 and partially funded by the Association, blood tests 🩸 did a better job of accurately detecting Alzheimer's than primary care doctors and specialists who were using traditional diagnostic methods. The test was around 90% accurate in identifying Alzheimer’s in patients with cognitive symptoms at primary care and specialized memory care clinics compared to 63% and 73% accuracy when not using the test. Why this is exciting: Highly accurate blood tests could drastically reduce the time it takes to get a diagnosis, as well as accelerate access to new treatments.

About us
ABOUT OUR CHAPTER - 206.363.5500 The Western and Central Washington State Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association was incorporated as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization in Washington State in 1978 and merged with the Inland Northwest Chapter in 2015. We were started by family caregivers who came together around a common need of getting support and help for their loved ones with dementia. Our Chapter was one of seven founding chapters of the National Alzheimer's Association, headquartered in Chicago. Today our Chapter serves individuals living with Alzheimer's disease (and related dementias), their families, health care professionals and administrators, and the general public throughout a 23 county service area that runs from the Canadian to the Oregon borders. OUR VISION A world without Alzheimer's disease OUR MISSION To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. You can call us any time of the day or night and get advice and information about the many issues and challenges of caregiving and about dementia. A call to our HelpLine is all it takes. 1.800.272.3900

#WhyIWalk "I walk in memory of my mom. She passed away in 2012. I wish back then that I knew about the resources and all the information that the Alzheimer’s Association had to offer, it would have made some of our tougher decisions much easier to accept," says Kersten. Kersten joined the Walk to End Alzheimer's in memory of her mom and as a way to get involved in her community back in 2021 and she's been hooked ever since! 💜💙🧡💛 Read more about Kersten's "Why I Walk" in our latest blog: https://lnkd.in/gPg_uZie ••• 📸 Photo 1: Kersten's Mom 📸 Photo 2: Kersten

#ICYMI #WhyIWalk Ashely is currently a volunteer for the Walk to End Alzheimer's and a member of the Purple Ambassadors, a group of high school and college students who work to raise awareness around campuses about the Association and the mission to find a cure. Her determination to help find stretches far beyond her involvement as a volunteer. Ashley is pursuing a career as a neurologist and researcher of neurodegenerative diseases, to hopefully be a part of finding a cure for this terrible disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. Her passion is inspiring and we are so grateful for her support in this fight! 💜🧠 Learn more about Ashley's story in our latest blog: https://lnkd.in/gV5KtsFk
