  • ⚠️ Ensuring safety in the chemical industry starts with robust piping design—here’s how AED’s latest project is supporting essential operations at a chemicals and biofuels facility on the East Coast. To guarantee the facility's operational efficiency and readiness for future demands, AED provided detailed design engineering services for essential piping additions and modifications. Let's take a look at the scope of work... ➡️ Re-purposing a tank for storage of Caltran 60-30 (Type II) Transformer Oil: This included the addition of nitrogen tank blanketing piping and instrumentation from an existing nitrogen header, as well as the addition of a tank level instrument. ➡️ Re-purposing tanks for a de-icer system: This involved connecting a transfer line to the raw material line, adding an air-operated on-off valve, extending truck loading to rail car loading to tie into the existing line in the rack to the tank, adding a new flow meter, a water feed line upstream of the meter, a new tank truck actuator valve, and a new transfer line between tanks. All of these design pieces come together to help safe storage and handling of transformer oil, reducing risks and improving operational flexibility. It also extends loading capabilities from trucks to rail cars, while ensuring regulatory compliance and provides a reliable infrastructure for ongoing and future operations. We wrapped up engineering back in May, and the system is set to be operational before this upcoming winter! #ProjectHighlight #Biofuels #PipingDesign #ChemicalEngineering #EngineeringDesign #ProcessEngineering #IndustrialEngineering #EngineeringSolutions #SafetyFirst #OperationalExcellence #InfrastructureDesign #EngineeringProjects #InnovativeEngineering #IndustrySafety

🏭 In the world of chemical process equipment, two key questions stand out: what to check and how often? Proper inspections are critical to ensuring safety. In fact, according to the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB), approximately 70% of incidents in chemical facilities could have been prevented through better process safety management and regular equipment inspections. Here are some important tips: Pressure Vessels: Include any vessel with a pressure >15 psig or with a vacuum rating on your inspection list. Don't forget pipe coils and most filters, as they rely on pressure to move fluid. Corrosion: Always consider corrosion when scheduling inspections. Corrosive service can significantly shorten equipment life. Pressure Relief Systems: Regularly replace rupture discs and test relief valves, especially in high-risk areas like chlorine operations. Other Items: Periodic inspections are also essential for atmospheric and low-pressure tanks, piping, instruments, electrical systems, structural steel, and sewers. Using a combination of visual inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), and rigorous routine checks ensures your equipment operates safely and efficiently. For comprehensive chemical process equipment inspections, consult CATSI to maintain optimal performance and safety standards! https://lnkd.in/edHtb-Q8 #ChemicalSafety #ProcessSafety #EquipmentInspection #IndustrialSafety #CorrosionControl #NDT #AssetIntegrity #SafetyManagement #OperationalExcellence
