We're scaling a self-guided, online, and inclusive 'Intro to AI' curriculum to high schools across the U.S.
About us
The AI Education Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that creates equitable learning experiences that excite and empower students everywhere with AI literacy. We believe that everyone—especially those who are likely to be disproportionately impacted by AI systems—should have access to the conceptual knowledge and skills they need to thrive as workers, creators, consumers, and citizens. Our Theory of Change is centered on working directly with school districts to empower educators, schools, districts, and other education organizations with accessible curricula and learning resources that make it easy for any teacher to easily integrate learning experiences that spark curiosity and excitement about AI. We seek to make AI education a part of every single students’ education, and build curricula and professional development offerings that connect AI to core subjects in addition to Computer Science and Career & Technology Education — which breaks down barriers and bottlenecks at resource-strapped school districts.

AI literacy is about ensuring that students have the knowledge they need to thrive in the future, not just as workers but as creators, consumers and citizens. Our CEO Alex Kotran joined the Techstars Founder Features to discuss the importance of AI literacy and how aiEDU supports K-12 schools with free and accessible resources. ⤵ https://lnkd.in/eRUur9zB #ailiteracy #aieducation #k12education #teachersoflinkedin

I totally agree, plus it is always great to see how aiEDU.org materials I helped develop are being used worldwide, thank you for sharing Henry Ly! “While we often teach AI for career survival and other adult stuff, inspiring curiosity and exploring what it means to be human is equally important.“ …
At Athenia School, I gave a technical introduction to AI. Thank you so much, Jawahar, Leena, and Amit, for letting me work at all your different schools and sharing your knowledge and values. I also want to thank aiEDU.org; I used some of their lessons to demonstrate AI's social impact. These kids have a deep passion for helping their community. On the first day, they showed me their sustainable energy projects around the school. And I think this strong sense of community comes from Athenia School’s origins. When starting the school, Jawahar, Leena, and Amit wanted to provide girls from the slums with a free, quality education. There were funny pictures of Jawahar chasing kids who were initially scared of him haha, but his dedication paid off. Now, over 20 years later, they have more schools serving all kinds of students, including a free school for girls. When I spoke with Jawahar, he expressed pride in shifting these kids' mindsets to see possibilities beyond their traditional roles and abusive environments. This is why I’m excited to teach AI—to show the possibilities. While we often teach AI for career survival and other adult stuff, inspiring curiosity and exploring what it means to be human is equally important. One thing AI can’t take away from us is our empathy and emotional drive to solve the problems in our community.

“The challenge for schools is we’re going to have to adapt to an environment where we don’t know what the jobs of the future are,” our CEO Alex Kotran said in the latest episode of Work Shift's podcast, The Cusp. “What we can say with a bit more certainty is what are the skills of the future.” 💡 Get all the insights in the full episode featuring Alex and Leigh Ann DeLyser, executive director of CSforALL, on YouTube (link below) or wherever you listen to podcasts. #ai #aieducation #k12education #futureofwork

🍎 Teachers are using AI as much as, if not more than, students. 🛑 But there's still no 100% accurate or reliable way to grade student assignments with AI. Our CEO Alex Kotran shared his expertise with CalMatters about using AI for grading papers — check out the full article for insights from across the state of California. ⬇ https://lnkd.in/e8-RRiKS #aieducation #aiineducation #k12education

"It's not a question of should students have AI or should we expose them to it. I have kids in third, fourth and fifth grade coming in already knowing how to use AI and bringing information to add to the classroom. It's on educators to meet kids where they are and push them forward," said Kacie Seitz, a curriculum coordinator for the Hawaii State Department of Education. 📣 Hear directly from more educators like Kacie, along with leaders from Booz Allen Hamilton, about why it's critical for education to get AI literacy right. https://lnkd.in/gBukPNnq #ai #ailiteracy #aieducation #hawaii
