A room full of navigators! 34 young professionals from 23 different firms joined us to hear from National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB)'s Outreach Manager, Emily Anderson, AIA, NCARB, NOMA. She covered the tools and resources that can help navigate the path to licensure, getting NCARB certified, and advancing your career. We also appreciated having area universities and licensure supervisors join the conversation. #architect #architecturelicense #ncarb #career

Last week’s US Conference of Mayors in Kansas City was an exciting opportunity for our chapter to engage with an important audience! Our chapter was well represented thanks to the collaboration between The American Institute of Architects (AIA) and AIA Kansas City. ~ Galen Lif, AIA Kansas City past president and current AIA Missouri Strategic Council Rep, engaged in sessions and discussions, gaining insights from city officials and other civic leaders. Multistudio ~ Randi Mixdorf, our Board Secretary, joined AIA’s Government Affairs team at their sponsor booth, connecting with mayors and noting the commendations from the National League of Cities CEO. Steelcase Scott Rice Office Works A special thanks to other dedicated members who represented us at USCM: Advocacy Committee Co-chairs Anastasia Huggins and Kyle Leiker, board member Kwame Smith, Rukhsana Reyes (KCMO City Architect), and Executive Director Dawn Taylor. We were excited to connect with AIA EVP/CEO Lakisha Ann Woods, CAE and AIA President Kimberly Dowdell, both of whom spoke at USCM sessions. The feedback about AIA's presence and the value of architects was overwhelmingly positive! #USCM2024 #mayors2024 #Collaboration #CityDesign #civicengagement #citizenarchitect #kc

Congrats to the Center for Architecture & Design Kansas City Scavenger Hunt winners and participants! We loved seeing so many new grads and summer interns from our Member Firms and Cornerstone Partners at the event!
Our Summer Scavenger Hunt for new grads and summer interns is more than a fun social event. It's an incubator for new career networks that will benefit young architects and designers in all 7 of our Center disciplines for years to come. This week's event featured some impressive numbers: This year: ~ 53 people registered. ~ 26 are from the metro. ~ 11 different states are represented. ~ 4 different countries are represented. ~ 29 local firms employ these young professionals. ~ 20 different universities are attended by the attendees. All of these measures are an increase from last year's event (our first Scavenger Hunt), which is exciting! We believe in building a community of architects and designers as soon as they arrive in KC. These business and professional networks are gold! Thanks to our Center board members (pictured below) for producing this event. AIA Kansas City KC APA - Kansas City Section American Planning Association IIDA Mid-America Chapter IDSA KC ASLA - Prairie Gateway Chapter AIGA Kansas City P.S.: the winning team was from BRR Architecture, Hoerr Schaudt Landscape Architects, DLR Group, PURE Workplace Solutions, and FORWARD Design | Architecture!

Our members who volunteer for education outreach activities deserve a "BRAVO!" We love being part of Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts annual Future Stages event. This was our 11th year! Hollis + Miller Architects KEM STUDIO Hoefer Welker HTK Architects BRR Architecture
Yesterday I was able to represent AIA Kansas City at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts for their annual Future Stages Festival. We were able to help kids explore the art of architecture by creating their own building to add into our cityscape. It was great fun to see the creativity and interest in each building and how they developed into specific homes, shops, restaurants and even a pet shop! We had a great time and loved the final result!

A persuasive post about the value of AIA membership!
2024 AIA President. HOK Architect. Cornell Trustee. Detroit Daughter. Ingenuity Chicago Board Chair.
As reported at last week’s AIA Board Meeting, our membership numbers are trending slightly ahead of where we were at the same point last year. This means that our outreach and engagement efforts over the past few years have been working. I'm pleased to share that AIA is approaching 90,000 members as of today’s date, putting us in a strong position to exceed our goal of 100,000 members by the end of 2024. When people see the value of The American Institute of Architects (AIA), they decide to invest in their careers via an AIA membership. The greatest returns are experienced by those who get involved with their chapter’s activities and further engage at the global scale. We have over 200 chapters around the world that are designed to support architects. As AIA President, I've had countless interactions with architects who have not been tuned into AIA lately, and thus had no idea how much work we are doing to advocate for prosperity within the profession, design excellence in the built environment, and the heightened protection of our natural environment. It's always rewarding to hear a non-member express interest in learning more. A special highlight for me was discovering that a firm-owner will now support AIA membership for the entire firm, based on our conversations about all that AIA is doing right now. We also seek to attract and retain as many new architecture school graduates as possible to join our ranks as an associate member, right out of school. AIA is the largest design organization in the world with the most powerful network available to help our new graduates navigate their careers. The first 18 months of membership for new grads is free. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gwudjmfX To learn more about AIA’s overall member benefits, explore: https://lnkd.in/gpetqq5g I hope that you'll join us at #AIA24 in D.C. next month. Members receive the best conference rates, so join today and be counted among the record-breaking 100,000+ members that we expect this year. If you're already a member, thank you for being an important pillar of our community. #MoreIn24Monday #KND4AIA #100Week22
