Our 340C legislative proposal was designed by community health center officials to benefit health centers and other covered entities, while also answering the call for greater transparency in the 340B Drug Pricing Program. 340C does not favor one type of covered entity over another; all are welcome to opt in in order to gain protections from actions that reduce 340B’s value. Despite its importance, the 340B program is facing challenges from various sources, including state policymakers, pharmaceutical companies, and pharmacy benefit managers. These challenges threaten the ability of health centers to leverage the program effectively. We invite you to learn more about ensuring access to care for underserved patients and communities with 340C. PRESS RELEASE: Advocates for Community Health (ACH) will celebrate National Health Center Week (NHCW) from August 4 to 10, 2024 with a week of grassroots advocacy. The week of action will culminate with the inaugural David B. Vliet Changemaker Award given to an outstanding health center member advocate. “We believe that the best way to celebrate health centers during National Health Center Week is active advocacy, calling on Congress to provide increased funding to ensure the future of the Community Health Center program and, equally important, to safeguard vitally important resources like the 340B Drug Discount Program,” stated ACH CEO Amanda Pears Kelly. “During this week of celebration and action, the ACH member network will actively engage their members of Congress to ask for swift action to support increased funding for community health centers ahead of the looming funding expiration and to enact ACH’s 340C legislative proposal to maintain 340B as a vital resource for health centers in caring for vulnerable patients.” The theme for this year’s NHCW is “Powering Communities Through Caring Connections.” In recognition of this, ACH will honor a community health advocate who empowers their community by advocating for the underserved. Adults and youth transitioning out of incarceration can experience delays in getting access to Medicaid or CHIP coverage upon return to their communities — harming public health and public safety. Today, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services approved several #Medicaid section 1115 demonstrations that will allow Illinois, Kentucky, Oregon, Utah, and Vermont to provide coverage before release, creating a seamless transition and avoiding gaps in coverage. These states join California, Massachusetts, Montana, and Washington in pursuing an innovative option for expanding access to high-quality, affordable health care. https://hubs.li/Q02F82kw0 #CHCs #communityhealth #healthcenters #primarycare #Medicaid #healthcare #healthequity

A new study in the Journal of Medical Care highlights differences in health care use among high-need Medicaid beneficiaries who receive primary health care at HRSA-funded health centers versus other settings. Health center patients had fewer high-cost specialty care, emergency room, and hospital visits but received equal or more primary care services. This suggests that, by providing less costly care, health centers lower health care costs for this group. https://hubs.li/Q02DfTZ_0 #HRSA #FQHC #CHCs #communityhealth #accesstocare #Medicaid #healthcare #primarycare #healthequity #healthcenters
