Happy National Health Center Week! Nearly 60 years after the Health Center Program began, our health centers need your help to continue caring for their patients. The CHC Fund expires once again on December 31, 2024, and it is critical that this deadline is met not with another continuing resolution, but with a multi-year authorization that increases funding to a level that reflects the needs of these innovative community hubs and the complex patient populations they serve. The best way to celebrate health centers during National Health Center Week is to call on Congress to provide increased funding to ensure the future of the Health Center program and, equally important, to safeguard vitally important resources like the 340B Drug Discount Program. Join Amanda Pears Kelly by calling on Congress this week to secure tomorrow’s health care and take action to support Health Centers. We’ve put together resources to make it easier for you. #NationalHealthCenterWeek #NHCW24 #NHCW #FQHCs #CHCs #ValueCHCs #healthadvocacy #healthpolicy #healthcenters #healthequity #primarycare

Over 30 million Americans go to community health centers every year, including millions of people with low incomes, people of color, #Medicaid enrollees, and the uninsured. As demand for these services grows, workforce shortages, funding gaps, and financial instability are threatening their existence. A new survey from the The Commonwealth Fund finds that, despite facing many challenges, in recent years #communityhealth centers have exceeded their mission and excel at: 📈 Increasing their use of #telehealth services 📊 Providing more substance use treatment ❓ Screening for social needs Authors Celli Horstman, MPP, Corinne Lewis, MSW, Alexandra Bryan, MPH and Sara Federman note several ways that Congress could ensure better support for #communityhealthcenters. It's #NationalHealthCenterWeek, read this new report to learn more about the survey and to find out what policymakers could do to ensure better support for these essential health care providers.

“Health centers are stepping up to the plate" to keep their communities healthy amid rising demand,” said Amanda Pears Kelly, CEO of Advocates for Community Health. "But the reality is ... it's also not sustainable," she said. “Congress needs to increase long-term federal funding to both health centers and workforce programs like the National Health Service Corps to meet the demand for care,” she added. https://lnkd.in/eT543dHD #NHCW24 #ValueCHCs

"One group desperately hoping Congress acts is community health centers, who were some of the original intended beneficiaries of 340B," writes Michael McAuliff at Modern Healthcare. "Advocates had hoped to see a final draft of the SUSTAIN Act ahead of National Health Center Week in Washington this week. 'The program has begun to narrow over time because of the actions of pharmaceutical companies, because of the actions of PBMs and others,' said Stephanie Krenrich, senior vice president of policy and government affairs at Advocates for Community Health. 'This is a really important program for community health centers and other entities.'" The best way to celebrate health centers during this #NHCW24 Week of Action is to protect health centers so they may continue to protect our most vulnerable communities. Today we are urging members of Congress to fund health centers to protect medical care providers navigating these moments of crisis in their communities. Health centers need Congress to equip them to navigate times of uncertainty, and to fund further research into emergency preparedness and response. The 340B Drug Pricing Program allows safety net providers to stretch scarce federal resources as far as possible, reaching more eligible patients and providing more comprehensive services. At community health centers, 340B program savings are reinvested back into communities and patients. Today during National Health Center Week, we call on Congress to support 340B reform for health centers, such as the 340C legislative proposal, protect access to contract pharmacies, ensure program integrity, and uphold transparency so that savings are reinvested in patient care. Here's how you can get involved: #340B #NHCW #NHCW24 #FQHCs #CHCs #healthcenters #primarycare #communityhealth

The Senate's 340B "Gang of Six" has been working on 340B reform for many years. While we were hopeful that their 340B reform bill, the SUSTAIN 340B Act, would be released today, it has been delayed. ACH is optimistic about the bill based on the bipartisan process so far and hopes that the Gang of Six continues to move forward so that Congress can consider the bill in the Fall. #340B #340Breform #SUSTAINAct #CHCs #ValueCHCs #FQHCs #primarycare #communityhealth #healthcenters

ACH and its member health centers are ramping up advocacy and outreach next week during National Health Center Week, urging federal policymakers to ensure that America’s largest network of primary care providers can continue caring for more than 31 million patients annually in underserved communities. This will require proper funding and resources.
