AdventHealth West Florida

Thanks to generous donations to the West Florida foundations, we're welcoming a new unit to our fleet of mobile mammography buses! With one in eight women being diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, early detection is key and contributes to a high survival rate. More than 7,000 patients (including 1,300 Hillsborough County Public Schools teachers and employees) were screened in 2023 through our mobile mammography program. This fully funded additional bus will significantly increase the number of lifesaving screenings provided every year!

AdventHealth is growing with the Pasco County community! This week, community and hospital leaders broke ground to mark the start of construction on the new AdventHealth Meadow Pointe Emergency Room. This will be AdventHealth's fifth ER location in Pasco County, and another impactful step in meeting the health care needs of a rapidly growing community. Opening in spring of 2025, the new 13,000 sq ft facility on Chapel Commerce Drive will feature 12 patient beds and two triage rooms, and will offer imaging and lab services.

AdventHealth West Florida recently hosted our Graduate Medical Education (GME) White Coat Ceremony, welcoming our newest residents to the next chapter of their health care journey. Incoming residents, current residents and our graduating class of 2024 gathered to receive white coats, awards and recognition before a blessing of the graduates. This ceremony marks an important milestone in the growth of our GME program at AdventHealth Sebring, AdventHealth Tampa and AdventHealth Wesley Chapel as we continue to educate the next generation of doctors. Please join us in congratulating our graduating class and welcoming our newest residents!

AdventHealth Global Missions carries our pursuit of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ beyond our hospitals and across borders. Thanks to a generous gift from Pioneer Medical Group through AdventHealth Foundation West Florida, AdventHealth Global Missions can ensure compassionate patient care continues in countries like Peru, Ecuador and Chile. This investment in whole-person care will help bring primary care, medical education and surgical services to the international communities we serve. Supporters since 2019, we are thankful for our partnership with Dr. S. Irfan Ali and Pioneer Medical!

AdventHealth recently hosted the Youth Sports Safety Summit, an event designed to equip coaches and families with skills to safeguard young athletes. Experts from AdventHealth provided information and training at the event that could help save lives on and off the field. AdventHealth Wesley Chapel CMO Dr. Robert Rosequist shares a recap of the summit:

We continue to work toward advancing equity in clinical access, outcomes and experiences to empower all patients to experience wholeness.

Knowing the signs of heart disease can be lifesaving, which is why our teams continually seek to educate communities on recognizing these symptoms. Scott Paulsen attended an AED training session led by Amanda McCall, a cardiac accreditation specialist at AdventHealth Zephyrhills. Ten days later, the information from that session helped save his life. Scott visited the hospital after experiencing chest pain. He was diagnosed with an aortic dissection and transferred to AdventHealth Tampa for open-heart surgery. His surgeon, Dr. Richard Morrison, provides insight on the importance of visiting the hospital if symptoms occur:

AdventHealth’s Global Missions footprint continues to grow. West Florida Division Chief Financial Officer Dima Didenko recently returned from the Romania-Ukraine border, where he met with leaders from the Angelia Seventh-Day Adventist Clinic. The clinic makes outreach trips across Ukraine with mobile clinics and humanitarian aid. Dima is originally from Ukraine, so this mission has a special place in his heart. He and the AdventHealth team delivered 840 water filters to Angelia leaders through a partnership with GlobalAccess 2030. For two years, AdventHealth has been supporting the work of Angelia Clinic through financial donations for medical equipment and a mobile clinic to serve residents of the war-torn country.
