Raise your hand if you grew up 'at the pool' in a rural community. "Recreational amenities such as this recent project in Stanley, ND, are critical pieces in sustaining our rural communities. It was a delight to work with a great team to bring it all together for the citizens of Stanley and the surrounding area." - Project Designer, Kimberly Keller, Assoc. AIA
Replacing the original pool, which was built over 60 years ago and named after the founder of Duraflex International Corp, the industry leader in aquatic Diving equipment, the new Ray Rude Outdoor Pool in Stanley ND is completed and ready to open to the public! Working alongside the Ackerman-Estvold team, who provided the design services for the new bathhouse and changeroom facility, Aqua Plans Aquatic Consultants Inc. is excited to have designed the new Pool and Splash Pad for this community. Built by ROERS and Associated Pool Builders, Inc, the new pool is fully accessible with a beach entry tots pool area, a gently sloping family area with teaching steps, a 4 lane x 82 foot lap area, a Vortex waterslide, 16 foot climbing wall, and of course, following up on the facilities heritage, a 14 foot Duraflex 1M Dive Stand. A fantastic new Splash Pad area is located directly next to the Pool, and includes 15 spray features (from Waterplay by MAKR Group) for all ages, and runs off of a fully recirculated water system. Complimenting the perimeter overflow system around the entire pool, the Pool and Splash Pad are filtered with Neptune Benson, Evoqua Defender filters, helping ensure the the highest quality of water possible for this new facility.

The Hoover Dam represents a symbol of American ingenuity and is one of the most monumental engineering and construction projects in the nation. This short video features insights into the design and construction of the dam and we thought you'd enjoy it as much as we did!

Extensive geological surveys ensured a stable location, while the arch-gravity structure combined arch strength and gravity mass to withstand immense water pressure. Advanced modeling and material science were pivotal, with 3.25 million cubic yards of concrete cooled by an embedded pipe system to prevent cracking. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀, requiring innovative logistical solutions. Extreme Black Canyon temperatures necessitated special cooling techniques & methods to ensure worker safety. Diverting the Colorado River involved excavating four massive tunnels. Stabilizing the dam's foundation required debris removal and canyon wall stabilization. Project's vast scale and tight timelines demanded meticulous project management & stringent quality control, ensuring long-term structural integrity.

Great partnerships create great work! Thank you to the acoustical engineers and designers at ABD for providing a wonderful product to elevate our design. While the materials provide critical sound management for MSU's new learning environment, they also helped transform the space beautifully. Our architects thank you for your insight during the process!
ABD Engineering & Design sincerely thanks Ackerman-Estvold and McGough Construction for inviting us to their Minot State University Hartnett Hall renovation project. ABD provided holistic acoustical engineering for the Communications, Art, English and Humanities building housing KMSU radio and television studios, E-sports venues, podcast studio, theater, recital hall, gathering spaces, seminar and classrooms. The university has wonderful new spaces for faculty and students alike. #acoustics
