I like to refer to being a go-getter. When an intern shows they are willing to learn and grow in the internship, these are things that get noticed and help an intern stand out. Taking the initiative is critical to building a future in the industry. Having the willingness to learn and asking questions to increase knowledge are both qualities as an intern that stand out in my eyes.

Your behavior and demeanor leave a lasting impression on both guests and colleagues.

Networking is key in this industry. I tell my interns to update their Linkedin profiles and start connecting. When they finish their studies and are ready for work, they can connect again and see the opportunities available online.

I always lesrn new languages and see what is the top nationality in each day, but I personally enjoyed learning good morning, afternoon and evening and especially “have a safe flight” in their language before leaving the hotel.

Hospitality Industry is a place where learning is perennial. As an intern, theoretical learnings will be applied in a real situation. Surprisingly, when you embark on the reality of the Hotel Industry, everything you learn is new everyday— New trends, new systems, different and unique guests. Even if you have been working in the industry for years, still new learnings emerge everyday. This is one of the best opportunities you will have when you work in the industry. And as an intern it is also one of the privileges to have. You must have a mindset of a professional and not as an intern when you start the internship. Express your passion in service genuinely. Immerse yourself and be formed into a hotelier you've been dreaming to be.

Learning is key, you must keep learning. Your goal should be to be better than you were yesterday. "The essence of life is growth, to do the best you can."
