Collaborative works are great for fostering creativity and learning. Through Newton-Bhabha Higher Education Partnership Project sponsored by Royal Academy of Engineering, UK in 2016 I was able to realise it. We involved students in small research projects based on solar solutions for community needs. Students were allowed to come up with problems and their probable solutions. I found the students flowing with creative ideas and enthusiasm. We would together discuss on the different aspects, and as a mentor I would think deeply and consult resources to guide them, which further helped me and my students. Collaborations with other universities and industry persons were added advantage resulting in development of diverse thinking patterns.

Collaborations, continuous learning, diverse perspectives, feedbacks are all important but the most important thing is allowing time and freedom to faculty members for relaxed introspection and support for pursuing above mentioned measures. A stressed, burnt out faculty member can never be creative. Instead of race for awards and rankings, focus should be on creating free spaces to think, ponder and experiment in teaching and learning. The passion, the joy emanated in teaching-learning process should be highlighted and valued.
