Participation in the Translation Meeting of the Book "Computational Propaganda" The inclusion of the translation of the book "Computational Propaganda" as one of the final four candidates in Iran's Book of the Year contest has increased the acceptance of Iranian readers to engage with this book. I would like to express my gratitude to Samuel C. Woolley and Philip N. Howard for providing Iranian researchers with the opportunity to access such research on a global scale. The book, originally titled "Computational Propaganda: Political Parties, Politicians, and Political Manipulation on Social Media," has been published in Iran under the title "Manipulation of Social Media" with the subtitle "Computational Propaganda." The publication of this book by Roznameh Hamshahri publications has been well-received by university professors in the fields of social sciences, communication, media, and political sciences, as well as students and media activists. The translation of this book is now in its second edition, as two translators, Abbas Rezaei Samrin and Rasool Safarahang, have worked diligently to convey the concepts from English to Persian while preserving the meaning and goals of the authors. I was invited to participate in the translation of this book due to my studies in political science, specifically in the field of political thought, and my understanding of Oxford University's research methodology employed in this book. One year after the publication of the book in Iran, a review meeting was held with the presence of the translators, Abbas Rezaei Samrin and Rasool Safarahang (a researcher in political science at Tehran University), and book critic Jamaluddin Akbarzadeh Jahormi (a professor at Allameh Tabatabai University). During this meeting, I explained that the book is based on a large-scale research project conducted by researchers from different countries under the supervision of a university team. I highlighted the authors' unique methodology in writing the book, stating that they aimed to identify and analyze the powerful positions in society, including how governments, large advertising companies, campaign owners, and election candidates utilize computational propaganda methods. While these methods are also used by ordinary individuals, the authors focus on those with greater power who aim to influence thoughts and subsequently shape political decisions. The methods proposed in this book ultimately seek to manipulate people's will, which is expressed through their choices at the ballot box. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗺, 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗪𝗮𝘀 𝗗𝗿𝘆 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝗜𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴. Hamedan is one of the cities of Iran in the western and mountainous region of Iran and the center of Hamedan city and province. Hamedan is one of the oldest cities in Iran and the world. Hamedan is named "the capital of Iran's history and civilization". This ancient city has been the first capital of Iran since 708 BC, and along with Athens in Greece, Rome in Italy, and Susa in Khuzestan, it is one of the few ancient cities in the world that is still alive and important. It currently has a population of more than 600,000 people. Ekbatan Dam is the most important dam in Hamadan Province. Although the establishment of this dam was aimed at providing 35% of the water consumption of Hamedan city and agricultural water for 800 hectares of land downstream of the dam, due to its features such as proximity to the city, the surrounding landscape and the dam lake, it has also been used for leisure purposes. Ekbatan Dam Lake is located 11 km southeast of Hamadan city. This lake has an area of about 60 hectares and its minimum depth is 18 meters and its maximum depth is 32 meters. The height of the dam at the time of construction was 54 meters and after the completion of the height increase project, the height of Ekbatan Dam has reached 79 meters. The current capacity of the reservoir is 36 million cubic meters. The water storage of this dam was almost finished in September of 2022, so that the residents of Hamedan city experienced a complete water cut for more than three weeks during most of the day, and water tankers were supplying water to the neighborhoods of the city. In the middle of the rains this spring, Ekbatan Dam, with a volume of 32 million and 500 thousand cubic meters of storage will soon overflow. This year's good rains, management of resources and consumption and control in the upstream rivers of Ekbatan Dam have been the main reason for the good storage in Ekbatan Dam.

From Pre-novel to Novel: The Influence of Non-novel Forms on the Emergence The emergence of the imported literary genre of novel in Iran needs to be discussed from different points of view. With regard to the chronological proximity of the emergence of the Persian novel and the Persian serial novel in Iran, it seems that discussing the factors influential in the emergence of the Persian serial novel is important in clarifying other dimensions of the emergence of the Persian novel. The main question is “what kinds of impact did the non-novel forms, published in Iranian press from the beginning to 1922, have on the emergence of the Persian novel?”. To find an answer, the serial forms published in the period in question have been studied drawing on the poly-system theory and Watt's theory of formal realism. The corpus of the study was examined for the six main elements of the realist novel, including the plot, realistic descriptions, character, time, place, and language. Next, the relationship between those six elements and most types of non-novel, including historical, travelogue, biographical, and scientific serial novels, was examined. Considering the existence of these elements in the above-mentioned serial novels, it is possible to conclude that each one of them were influential in the emergence of the Persian novel. https://lnkd.in/dcyrfaAb
