...and now, back to summer-ish!

Beryl continues to pull away from Texas and clean-up in Beryl’s wake continues along the coast, into the Houston area, and in East Texas where a few tropical tornadoes formed yesterday afternoon. While Robertson, Leon, and Freestone Counties received a few inches of rain, a fair few of us remained rain and storm free. The cloud deck from Beryl did help to keep temperatures in the 70s and 80s for most of the area, but the return of sunshine will bring us the return of 90s this afternoon. Thankfully, temperatures will NOT be terribly hot today, but it will be warmer today than it was yesterday. Morning temperatures in the upper 60s and low 70s this morning makes it the coolest morning we’ve seen since the early days of June! We will be warmer today than we were yesterday, but high temperatures will stay just a bit below average in the mid-90s with heat index values in the mid-to-upper 90s. Rain isn’t in the forecast today but a few isolated showers or rumbles of thunder are possible each afternoon from Wednesday through Saturday. Rain chances are only between 10% and 20% with the highest chance for rain coming Friday and Saturday.

High pressure will start to build across the Southwest this week and into the weekend and that heat dome ridge of high pressure will continue to march ever closer to our area as we push into next week. As a result, temperatures will steadily climb day in and day out with a slow increase in humidity too. Expect highs in the mid-90s every day through Saturday with upper 90s returning Sunday through most of next week. In fact, by the middle of next week, high pressure could be more directly overhead so triple-digit temperatures could return as early as next Wednesday with no rain in the forecast after Saturday. Heat index values should stay at or just below 100° through Saturday, but heat index values may climb as high as 105° next week. Welcome back, summer! We didn’t miss you...
