Spotty Rain Chances Continue through Midnight for Central Texas

Hurricane Beryl made landfall as a Category 1 earlier this morning along the Texas coast, bringing flooding, strong winds, heavy rain, and leaving millions along the coast and around the Houston area without power. Beryl has since weakened into a Tropical Storm, and some of the outer bands have reached into Central Texas. Some across our area have seen up to 3 inches of isolated rain (so brief reminder: just because you didn’t see rain where you are located, does not mean someone else didn’t see rain too).

As Beryl approached last night, the track continued to push east, meaning the majority of the severe impacts were located well east of Central Texas. A flood watch remains in effect until 7 AM on Tuesday and a tornado watch is also in effect for the eastern bands of Beryl until 10 PM this evening. East Texas saw up to 4-7+ inches of rain, and 6-12+ inches were seen along the coast.

After Beryl makes its way out of Texas, things should return back to normal. Temperatures will be in the mid 90′s and maybe even back to the triple digits next week. We will keep some spotty rain chances this week for any potential pop up showers that Beryl leaves behind, but it won’t be anything like what some of us in Texas have been seeing today. Most, if not all of us will be dry for the next week.
