TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) - The SunRISE Center opened in Temple after a tornado caused them to relocate. The center provides free mental healthcare to the public.

“And then when the tornado came though it blew the billboard that’s in the yard actually onto the roof of our building so it was just another setback,” SunRISE Center Director, Misty Bevill said.

The SunRISE Center persevered and is now located at 116 West Avenue G.

They offer mental healthcare by licensed professionals for different needs, such as domestic violence or alcohol abuse.

The SunRISE Center is part of a local non-profit called Feed My Sheep. This charity usually provides food to the homeless and food insecure. Feed My Sheep’s Executive Director, Jeff Stegall, thinks adding the SunRISE Center can make a big difference.

“If one, if one single life is changed because of what occurs in the SunRISE Center then I’ll fight three more years to have another thing open just like it,” Stegall said.

Over 25 groups volunteered their services to the SunRISE Center.
