GONZALES, Texas (KWTX) - Taylour Maddison Pechal, 18, and Krisna Soto, 18, both of Temple, were killed in a collision involving three vehicles in Gonzales, police confirmed to KWTX.

The deadly collision happened on Water Street at approximately 8:35 p.m. on June 29.

A police investigation revealed Pechal was driving a gray Ford Escape northbound when she veered into oncoming traffic and struck the rear driver side of a white Mazda CX5 travelling southbound on Water Street.

Police said Pechal’s Ford Escape then continued traveling into the southbound lanes, colliding head on with a black Dodge Ram.

Gonzales Fire Department and Gonzales County EMS arrived at the scene and extracted Pechal and Soto from the wreckage of the Ford Escape.

Both teens were transported by ambulance to San Antonio Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Police were later notified that Soto and Pechal were pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver and passenger in the Black Dodge Ram were transported by EMS to Gonzales Memorial Hospital where they were treated and released.

“It is still undetermined as to why the Ford Escape operated by the deceased Pechal veered into oncoming traffic,” police wrote in a news release.

Soto, according to a GoFundMe account, was “freshly graduated and with so much ambition for college and dreams of working as a dental hygienist. She was a very loving, smart and funny person. There are not enough words to describe her beautiful soul.”

Pechal, according a GoFundMe account, “had just graduated from Temple High School and was planning on attending Texas A&M University.”

“Our hearts our broken but we will never forget her infectious smile and loving soul,” the GoFundMe account states.
