Happy Fourth of July from your friends here at KWTX! Tonight will be a great night for some Independence Day celebrations as conditions will be nice and clear for this evening with the only concern continuing to be the heat index. There is still a heat advisory in effect for Central Texas until 8 PM, but it will likely be the last that we see for a little while...a big change in the weather pattern starts tomorrow.

As our summertime high pressure has pushed off to the east, a cold front will make its way towards Central Texas starting tomorrow afternoon. It will bring scattered rain chances and a nice cool down for all of us across the area. The front will likely stall and keep the rain chances around through the weekend, which means our temperatures will not get above the low 90′s.

This is only half of the story though: it does still look like Hurricane Beryl will take a northward turn as it enters the Gulf of Mexico. This means it is likely going to impact south Texas, as the National Hurricane Center expects it to re-strengthen into a Category 1 hurricane by landfall. The further north that Beryl goes, the higher the rain chances and the lower the temperatures for Central Texas. We will continue to monitor as Beryl progresses.
