WACO, Texas (KWTX) -In light of hurricane Beryl, Tru Jamaica restaurant owner Aniceto Charles Jr. has been checking in on his aunts and extended family in Jamaica.

While cell service isn’t reliable right now overseas, Charles says his family is praying for safety and protection.

“My aunts are older, but they are strong, and they have a strong spirit and will its more of ‘Hey I know what tomorrow’s going to be because the Lord is bringing us tomorrow’” Charles explained, “and that’s the attitude they always kind of share with us.”

Charles says if things get worse and if people need help, he’s ready to step in to raise money or physically help on the island.

“Obviously financially we are going to help where we can and then if we have to go down there to Jamaica to build their houses or fix up their houses, we’ll have to do that.”
