BELTON, Texas (KWTX) - A 13-year-old juvenile driver and an 18-year-old passenger accused of wrecking a stolen vehicle while trying to elude police were taken into custody after they were released from a local hospital, The Texas Department of Public Safety said.

At about 8:30 a.m. on June 30, DPS Troopers responded to a request for assistance near Auction Barn Road and Loop 121.

Belton police officers located the stolen 2011 Dodge Challenger vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, however, fled northbound on Loop 121, police said.

Moments later, a DPS Trooper observed the vehicle traveling southbound on IH-35 in Belton.

The Challenger turned northbound onto Connell Street and began to evade the Trooper.

DPS said the driver lost control and rolled the Challenger onto its left side on Kegley Road.

The vehicle was confirmed stolen by Belton police, who responded to the scene along with the owner of the vehicle.

The juvenile driver and the passenger were checked at the scene by EMS. Police said both were transported to local hospitals for medical clearance and taken into custody.

No injuries were reported.
