BELTON, Texas (KWTX) - A 37-year-old woman from Temple is facing multiple charges after she led a state trooper on a pursuit along I-14, The Texas Department of Public Safety said.

At about 7:30 a.m. on July 1, a DPS trooper pulled over the woman, who was driving a Ford Fusion with expired registration, on IH-14 in Belton. As the Trooper exited the vehicle, the driver sped away from the traffic stop, DPS said.

The vehicle fled at speeds over 100 mph as the trooper pursued her with emergency lights and sirens activated.

“Speeds were maintained above 100 MPH as the Ford attempted to evade the Trooper,” DPS said.

The woman then took the 190-west exit towards Lampasas and traveled onto the service road.

DPS said she crashed over multiple curbs and impacted a small embankment. She allegedly tried to run away on foot, but was found in nearby woods.

According to DPS, the driver “admitted to consuming multiple pills while evading police.”

She was transported to Metroplex ER in Killeen for medical treatment and “multiple charges will be filed” when she is released, DPS said.
