WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A former Division 1 athlete is living up to his online handle of Mobility Monster as more than 120,000 people have started following his content which showcases his size, strength, and unique mobility.

At 6′6 and 325 pounds, Wacoan Ty Horn, 33, can bench press 550 pounds, squat 700 pounds and do the splits.

While most people would call him a freak athlete, Ty is more humble when asked.

“I’m just a person who never stopped training when sports were over,” Ty laughed.

Ty is a full-time custom home builder and designer for Horn Builders in Waco, but his passion is in health and exercise.

Ty graduated Midway High School in 2009 before playing Division 1 football and while he’s always worked out, a few years ago Ty took up in jiu jitsu.

He began to share his workouts online.

“I don’t really do anything different than I used to, I just film it,” Ty said.

The look into combat sports training quickly caught on now only from friends locally but followers as far away as Iran, Russia and Australia.

“The niche that I filled for the page to grow was strength and conditioning specifically for combat sports because the needs are very different from say football or basketball,” Ty said. “I think it’s been funny and a total shock that the page has grown to where it is.”

Ty’s content includes tips, motivation, humor, and lifestyle.

He’s showcased everything from doing the splits, to long jumps and picking up and moving a 412-pound sandbag.

The combat sports athlete often includes his family, Riley, 8, and Byrdie, 3, along with his wife, Kaitlynn.

He said the page has been a fun way to encourage athletes new to the sports while also providing tools to more experienced ones.

“I think it’s a lot of fun if you let it be,” Ty said. “There’s a lot of negativity on the internet, and so I try my best to convey a message of ‘hey be nice to the new guy. Don’t be a gatekeeper. Don’t talk down to people because they’re not experienced.”

Ty offers pre-written programs you can buy through his Instagram page and says there’s a little something for everyone, even if you never plan to enter a ring.

“If you prioritize taking care of yourself physically, you’ll be amazed at what happens in the rest of your life,” Ty said.

Ty trains with a group in Austin called New Wave Jiu Jitsu two days a week serving as a training partner because of his size.
