MILAM COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) - A Guadalupe County man has been arrested following his alleged involvement in a theft investigation that originated in Milam County.

The Milam County Sheriff’s office said Shawn Sims, 51, was arrested and charged with theft between $150,000-$300,000, theft between $2,500-$30,000 and tampering with a government record to defraud or harm.

Authorities say they started their investigation on June 21 after a resident called MCSO to report their 2023 Supertrak, valued at $290,000, was stolen.

The Supertrak was leased out to a Sims, and he was hired to clear property in Milam County, according to authorities.

During their investigation, authorities say Sims called the owner of the Supertrak to inform him it had a leak that needed to be fixed.

When the owner went to the location to fix the Supertrak, the equipment was missing and Sims claimed it had been stolen, authorities say.

Authorities say they later learned that Sims was seen moving the Supertrak to a storage unit in Seguin.

Shortly after, the Seguin Police Department recovered the Supertrak from the storage unit.

Additionally, authorities say Sims was paid for work at a Milam County property that he did not complete.

Authorities also allege that in order to rent the Supertrak, Sims would have shown falsified government documents with a tax ID number for a company that does not exist.

Sims was subsequently arrested on June 25 and booked in the Wilson County Jail.
