Waco man arrested in fatal Mesquite shooting
MESQUITE, Texas (KWTX) - A Waco man was arrested for his involvement in a fatal Mesquite shooting last Thursday.
Davonta Mathis, 21, is charged with evading arrest with a vehicle and capital murder.
On June 20 at around 11:00 p.m., the Mesquite Police Department says they received a 911 call about a shooting in the 1700 block of West Bruton Road.
The caller said Mathis walked into a business and started shooting, police said.
When officers arrived on scene, police say they found a man with gunshot wounds.
According to police the victim, identified as 60-year-old Muhammad Hussain, of Carrollton, was taken to local hospital where he died due to his injuries.
On June 22, police say an officer on patrol noticed Mathis and started a vehicle pursuit.
Shortly after, Mathis was arrested and charge for his involvement in the shooting.
