San Marcos police searching for man seen causing $6,000 in damages to post office

SAN MARCOS, Texas (KWTX) - The San Marcos Police Department says they’re searching for a suspect seen on surveillance footage causing $6,000 in damages at a post office.

On May 19, 2024, at around 10:30 p.m., the man can be seen entering the post office on Bugg Lane in San Marcos and walking to the self-service area.

After packing his items, surveillance footage shows the man attempt to use the package drop box, which appears to be jammed shut.

The man can be seen forcibly opening the drop box and kicking a kiosk monitor twice before grabbing his packages from the self-service area.

As he is leaving, the man kicks the front door, cracking the glass.

Police describe the suspect as a white man in his 20s with a thin build and brown hair.

He can be seen wearing a brown baseball hat, glasses, a peach-colored polo shirt, light-colored shorts, white socks and gray and white shoes.
