Aggies claim Game One of College World Series Finals

OMAHA, Nebraska (KBTX) - After a five-run frame in the third inning, Texas A&M baseball beat Tennessee 9-5 in Game One of the Men’s College World Series Finals at Charles Schwab Field.

The Aggies can clinch their first national championship in Game Two on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Kaeden Kent continued his strong run this postseason with a 2-run home run in the seventh inning. He finished the day 3-for-5 with 4 RBI. The sophomore is batting .500 since getting into the lineup after Braden Montgomery’s injury in the Super Regionals. He has 14 RBIs so far in the postseason, which matches his regular-season total.

Kent also hit a 2 RBI single in the third inning to take a 7-1 lead. Hayden Schott and Caden Sorrell added RBI singles in the third, and Ted Burton scored on an error.

Gavin Grahovac set the tone for the Aggies with a leadoff home run in the first inning. That’s the first leadoff home run in the Men’s College World Series Finals since 2003.

Ryan Prager got the start on the mound for the Aggies. He threw six strikeouts in 4.0 innings, giving up two runs and eight hits.

Evan Aschenbeck, the National Stopper of the Year, closed the final 2.2 innings. He threw seven strikeouts while allowing no runs and two hits.

Josh Stewart threw four strikeouts in 2.1 innings of relief and gave up two runs on one hit (a two-run homer from Dylan Dreiling).

Tennessee’s bats came alive in the seventh inning. Dylan Dreiling and Hunter Ensely hit back-to-back home runs to close the gap 9-5.
