CHINA SPRING, Texas (KWTX) - Authorities have identified the two suspects arrested during a standoff in the Highland Park Estate in China Spring on Friday.

McLennan County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Cody Blossman identified the suspects as Cameron Rice, 37, and Shayne Miller, 27, both of Waco.

Rice was wanted on an aggravated assault warrant while Miller was being pursued for an alleged parole violation.

McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara told KWTX that the standoff started at around 9:00 a.m. Friday morning after the suspects barricaded themselves in a house.

McNamara said officers tried to communicate with Rice and Miller during the nine-hour standoff, but they did not respond to their efforts.

Two armored vehicles from the sheriff’s office and Waco Police Department drove into the residence to gain entry.

“The house was pretty much dismantled,” McNamara said.

Authorities had to search the home to find Rice and Miller, who officers found crouched down in a small cubicle hidden behind some speakers, McNamara said.

“They were hard to find because they were hiding inside a rat hole,” McNamara said.

Blossman said that McLennan County officials have filed no additional charges at this time based upon Friday’s standoff situation.

McNamara said he wanted to thank the agencies who responded to the scene and spent all day out in the hot sun.

Those agencies included the U.S. Marshals Service, the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office, Bosque County Sheriff’s Office, Waco Police Department and Homeland Security.

“Everybody did a phenomenal job,” McNamara said. “It was a tremendous, combined effort by all these law enforcement agencies.”
