WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Stormie Parsons is charged with two counts of leaving a child in a vehicle and possession of a controlled substance after she left her two children inside a car while she was inside a Waco motel room for nearly two hours, an arrest warrant affidavit states.

Parsons was arrested shortly after midnight on June 20 at a motel in the 4200 block of Franklin Avenue.

Police were called to the scene after a witness reported two children were inside a car parked in the motel’s parking lot. The car was turned off and it appeared the children had been inside for about two hours, the witness told police.

Officers knocked on a motel room door and Parsons answered the door. While speaking with the officers Parsons confirmed she is the mother of the children in the car, ages 9 and 7, police wrote in the affidavit.

When asked why she left her kids in the car, Parsons appeared nervous and could not provide a consistent answer, police said.

A man then came out of the same room and threw a purse on the ground, police said. The officers asked Parsons if the purse belonged to her and she confirmed it was hers, police wrote in the affidavit.

The officers then conducted a probable cause search of the purse and found three syringes with a clear liquid substance, the document further alleges, adding a search of Parsons’ person also turned up a “clear plastic baggie with a crystal-like substance inside.”

According to the affidavit, the officers used a Nartec field test kit, and preliminary results revealed the liquid substance inside the syringes and the crystal-like substance inside the plastic baggie all tested positive for methamphetamine.

Parsons was arrested but has since bonded out of jail. The affidavit does not mention if the man inside the room with Parsons was charged. An update on the children was not provided.
