WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Central Texas Cattle Baron’s Ball has announced that country music star Neal McCoy will be the entertainment for the largest fundraiser of the year for the American Cancer Society.

The 32nd annual Cattle Baron’s Ball will be held October 19th at MCC Highlander Ranch.

McCoy, a Texas native from Jacksonville in northeast Texas, used a play on a few of his hit songs to make the announcement in a video shown at a release party Thursday night in Waco.

“Gary, Indiana, Mobile, Alabama, Phoenix, Arizona, Bismarck, North Dakota, New York, L.A., Waco, Tampa Bay,” McCoy sang as he changed the lyrics from Houston to Waco in his hit song “The Shake” to share the news.

McCoy has released 34 singles to country radio and in 1993 broke through with back-to-back number one singles including “No Doubt About it” and “Wink” from his platinum-certified album “No Doubt About It.”

He has continued to gain fans more than three decades later.

McCoy is known for his support of troops and for reciting the Pledge of Allegiance everyday on his Facebook Page.

He’s done that 3,090 days consecutively.

Stephanie Maultsby is the director of continuing education at MCC Highlander Ranch and said getting McCoy is huge.

“We are so excited to offer the Cattle Baron’s Ball back at the Highlander Ranch and believe it or not, we have Neal Mccoy that’s going to kick off the party. It’s going to be such an amazing event. Please come out, spend your money, enjoy this cause, and have an amazing time at the best event in Waco every year,” Maultsby said.

Dave Mocio will be an honoree at the event which raises tens of thousands of dollars to help those fighting cancer locally.

“I’m a cancer survivor, and I’m excited about the 2024 Cattle Baron’s because of all the good work that it does to find a cure for cancer, and I couldn’t be any happier to be a part of it,” he said.

Ascension Providence is the lead sponsor for the fundraising event.

President Philip Patterson said they’re honored to help.

“We are excited at Ascension Providence to be the lead sponsor for this year’s Cattle Baron’s Ball. We are excited about celebrating those who have lived the life of survivorship through cancer, and we’re here to raise money for those who need help in the future.”

Scott Rogers is the chief lending officer for Alliance Bank and is also sponsoring the event.

“We are proud to be a sponsor for Cattle Baron’s Ball and they just announced Neal McCoy will be the entertainment for this year. Come out and join us. Be a sponsor,’ Rogers challenged other businesses.

Mark and Robin Mitchell are the co-chairs this year.

“Please join us. Bring a checkbook. Have a good time and let’s raise some money for this cure,” Mark said.
