KILLEEN, Texas - This week’s Be Remarkable takes us to Killeen, where a pillar of the community continues to cook up meals and love for folks who have fallen on hard times, no matter what kind of condition she’s in.

Florence Luz Flores - or Momma Flo - as she’s affectionately known by Killeen residents, has provided food and supplies for the homeless in the area, while battling cancer, for years.

“I nominated Momma Flo for the Be Remarkable Award because of the work she does in the community. She’s either providing meals, basic essentials, no matter what’s going on and she always does it with a smile on her face,” Diane Curtis, Nominator.

Momma Flo sees her subjects; people who are often overlooked by society.

“I don’t think there is a homeless person in Killeen who she doesn’t know their name.”

“When she comes in her room, and flashes that smile, everybody’s mood changes.  Like they could be feeling sour, but when they see her and her smile, it just brightens everything up.”

But Prior to our arrival to honor Mamma Flo, nobody was smiling.  That’s because she was taken to the hospital after having a fall that day.

We can tell you that Mamma Flow is a fighter, who is recovering, and is back to serving the community again today!

For her incredible work, the good Folks at Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers blessed Mamma Flo’s daughter with a check, which would soon be delivered to her mother.

“We have a $500 dollar gift to give to your remarkable mother for the way that she just loves her community, and we cannot thank you enough for what she does and I’m sure you are a little smidge of it too,” Linda McMillan, Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers.
