COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - The Krispy Kreme on Harvey Road in College Station caught fire Monday morning.

College Station Fire Chief Richard Mann told Caleb Britt no one was inside the building when the fire started just before 2 a.m. “There was debris on the roadway indicating some type of explosion,” he said.

According to College Station Fire Department public information officer Stuart Marrs, a Gumby’s Pizza employee heard an explosion and noticed that the Krispy Kreme was fully involved with fire.

The flames were intense and parts of the building were collapsing, so crews fought the fire from the outside using large bore nozzles and aerial ladders, according to officials.

Marrs said additional resources were called in around 2:30 a.m. and a second fire hydrant was used for more water supply.

Officials report the incident is still under investigation, but no injuries have been reported.

Mann told KBTX the building was a complete loss but no other building was damaged by the fire.

All on-duty firefighters responded to the scene. Mann also thanked firefighters from the South Brazos County Fire Department and Brazos County Precinct 4 Volunteer Fire Department for backfilling the College Station stations while crews were responding to this fire.

Harvey Road was closed from Rhett Butler Drive to Scarlet O’Hara Drive, but has since reopened, according to the College Station Police Department.
