Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas: 5.2.24

(KWTX) - Here’s this week’s restaurant report card for Central Texas:

Curry Up & Wok This Way inside (Union Grove) at 8100 Woodway Drive in Woodway passed a routine inspection with an 86 (14 demerits.)

According to the food safety worker, while it got 14 demerits, it did not require a reinspection.

Some raw eggs were stored over raw pork.

The sink needed paper towels.

The sugar container was not labeled.

The restaurant was missing its food establishment permit and previous inspection report.

There were a few other violations.

Hat Creek Burger Company at 103 Archway Drive in Woodway passed a routine inspection with a 90 (10 demerits.)

According to the food safety worker--- some raw shell eggs were stored above the water bottles and diced onions in the walk-in cooler.

Also, there were raw pooled eggs were stored above the ice cream mix.

That stuff had to be moved.

Raw beef was stored above the raw bacon.

An employee at the chicken nugget breading station was using a knife to cut open and check the meat to make sure it was done.

They should have used a thermometer instead.

And this week’s Clean Plate award goes to El Mango Loco at 3116 Bellmead Drive in Bellmead.

If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place to go.

You can find all sorts of candy from south of the border, plus ice creams and smoothies with lots of toppings including fruit and chili powder for some added spice.
