Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas: 4.18.24

(KWTX) - Here is this week’s restaurant report card for Central Texas:

Chuck’s Pizza, Pasta & Wings at 4315 West Lake Shore Drive in Waco failed a renewal inspection with an 85.

According to the food safety worker, the sausage and mozzarella cheese were not kept at the right temperature for an unknown amount of time. So, they were thrown out.

Several clean pans had old food debris on them.

The workers needed to clean and degrease the pans properly.

They also needed their food handlers’ cards.

This place needed a reinspection.

Taco Casa at 710 North Hewitt Drive in Hewitt failed a renewal inspection with a 94.

According to the food safety worker, there was an unknown white cleaning solution in an unlabeled spray bottle.

The men’s restroom lacked hot water and adequate pressure.

An electrical panel box was kept open, exposing live wires.

All of this added up to needing a reinspection.

Dunkin’/ Baskin Robbins at 1701 Hewitt Drive in Waco failed a reinspection, yes, with a 97.

According to the food safety worker, there was no certified food manager on duty during the inspection.

This is a requirement.

There were several flying insects inside the business.

It needs to properly prevent insect contamination by using approved methods.

The business needed a reinspection.

And this week’s Clean Plate award goes to Mac’s Fry House at 720 Franklin Avenue inside Union Hall in Waco.

This place also has a food truck.

The brick and mortar has fried mozzarella sticks, fish sticks and chicken tenders.

The sides looking interesting.

Baked mac and cheese, collard greens, hush puppies and honey butter biscuits.

Don’t forget dessert.

The mini funnel cakes or deep-fried Oreos will take you back to the days at the fair.
