(KWTX) - Here is this week’s restaurant report card for Central Texas:

Chopsticks at 500 north Hewitt Drive in Hewitt passed a renewal inspection with an 89.

According to the food safety worker, it did, however, have a couple of issues.

Some things were stored inappropriately.

There were yellow cleaning sponges that should have been thrown out.

The staff was using grocery store bags to hold food items in the cooler.

The scooper for the cooked rice was being stored in standing water.

That needed to be removed and cleaned.

Slow Rise on the Brazos at 1620 North Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Waco failed a renewal inspection with an 89.

According to the food safety worker, the business needed to provide temperature logs for a reach-in cooler.

The following foods were not kept at the right temperature and were thrown away: the sour cream, an open gallon of milk, sliced cheese, and house-made ranch dressing.

Multiple sanitizer buckets had an undetectable amount of sanitizer.

The reach-in cooler was not cold enough.

So, all the food inside needed to be cooked immediately.

This place needed a re-inspection.

Marco’s Pizza at 10324 China Spring Road in Waco failed a renewal inspection with a 93.

According to the food safety worker, there was sticker residue on several containers that were supposed to be clean, and some containers had heavily broken lids that needed to be replaced.

Also, there was a box of clamshell containers for the wings and a case of pizza boxes on the floor.

They needed to be moved.

And this week’s Clean Plate award goes to Waffle Chic at 601 Franklin Avenue in Waco.

If you are in the mood for waffles and want chicken, this is your spot.

Customers rave about the gluten-free, freshly-made food.

I hear the chicken is crispy, well-seasoned, and it pairs perfectly with the waffles.

The “Spicy Mama” also gets a lot of complimentary reviews.

Check it out.
