WACO, Texas (KWTX) - George’s restaurant in Waco is famous for their Big O’s and American food, and while they usually are closed on Sundays, today was a special exception.

To cater to the crowds in Waco here for the eclipse, managing partner Chris Cady shares how George’s created special drinks to celebrate the occasion.

“We have an eclipse margarita that we created... a wonderful product, and then one of the local brewers brewed an eclipse beer...we have it on draft.”

Manager Kevin Lopez says they stocked their restaurants fully, ready to serve any visitors.

“Prepped on our groceries, beer liquor and wine, just kind of see where its going to be. We’re going blind into it we have no idea what’s going to happen day to day.”

Paul Hidrogo has been a regular customer of George’s for 13 years and brought his whole family when he heard they were open on a Sunday.

“We’re going to take a picture before we leave here to prove that I was here on a Sunday I promise you.”

Cady says they are ready to entertain anyone from across the country or close to home.

“We want to be a part of the excitement and hopefully get to meet a new traveler coming through or be open for just our normal customers and Waco people that we love so much on just a fun weekend.”

Georges will be open on Monday during normal hours, but welcome customers and staff to view the eclipse during totality.
