Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas: 4.4.24

(KWTX) - Here is this week’s restaurant report card for Central Texas:

Jack in the Box #832 at 5125 Bosque Blvd in Waco failed a renewal inspection with a 93.

According to the food safety worker, the sliced tomatoes, cut lettuce, and cheese were not kept at the right temperature in the cooler.

They were thrown out.

The reach-in cooler was not set at the proper temperature.

There was excessive ice condensation in the freezer and the microwave was soiled with old food debris.

This place needed a re-inspection.

Buzzard Billy’s/The Brazos Landing at 100 North Jack Kultgen Expressway in Waco failed a re-inspection with a 93.

According to the food safety worker, the raw catfish, calamari, and cod, and the lobster bisque were not kept at the right temperature.

The reach-in cooler’s internal temperature was a bit off.

Some rusty shelves inside one of the coolers needed to be replaced.

The business needed to provide temperature for some of the coolers.

Since these were repeat violations, the business must pay a re-inspection fee.

Bru Coffee #2 at 800 Austin Avenue in Waco failed a re-inspection with a 95.

According to the food safety worker, there were 2 individually packed take-out boxes of spinach and feta turnovers that were not kept at the right temperature, and they lacked labels containing the ingredients.

So, they were thrown out.

This business also had to pay a re-inspection fee.

And this week’s Clean Plate award goes to Franks Kettle Corn at 6500 North 19th Street in Waco.

This locally owned business just celebrated its 3rd anniversary.

And you guessed it.

Along with its caramel, churro, dill pickle, and nacho cheese flavors, it has a special “Solar Eclipse” colored kettle corn.
