WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The World Cup Cafe in Waco is serving up an eclipse-themed menu ahead of the once-in-a-lifetime event, and each purchase will go toward a local nonprofit.

“The vision came to my mind when I heard the word eclipse,” Chef Mike Charette, the executive chef and general manager at Mission Waco, said.

From that vision, the ‘Total Eclipse Burger’ was born.

“If you take the bun off here, you have a sunny side up egg,” he said. “It has the yellow for the yolk, vision of the sun, the whiteness around the egg of the clouds, the brownness for the burger as the total darkness.”

The menu also features the ‘TOT-al Eclipse,’ which uses a combination of cheeses, beans, corn and tots to create an ‘eclipse’ setting, according to the creative eye of Chef Mike.

“Three cheese is the clouds, the corn is your sun,” he said. “The black beans represents the darkness of the whole eclipse.”

A ‘Galaxy Latte’ can complete your experience at the World Cup Cafe as the latte features cookie dough and moon pies.

There’s a mix of different eclipse-inspired breakfast and lunch meals, but Chef Mike emphasizes that each meal makes a big impact on the community.

“We are a social enterprise, part of Mission Waco,” he said. “When you come in and buy a plate here at Mission Waco, you’re helping one of our 26 programs.”

Mission Waco is a nonprofit that helps the poor and marginalized in the community. World Cup Cafe serves as a gateway to what Mission Waco does.

“Everything impacts someone’s life in the community by stopping in and buying a plate for Mission Waco,” he said. “My motto is providing jobs, impacting lives at one meal at a time. By us continuing to be able to do that is, everyone in the community is to come in and buy a plate.”

The eclipse menu will run through the eclipse. For a full menu, click here.
