Restaurant Report Card for Central Texas: 3.21.24

(KWTX) - Here is this week’s restaurant report card for Central Texas:

Cafe Cappuccino #2 at 100 North 6th Street in Waco failed a renewal inspection with an 87.

According to the food safety worker, some foods were not kept at the right temperature, like the cheddar cheese, the red-cooked salsa, diced tomatoes, spinach, cooked sausage, Pico de Gallo, and the ham.

There were multiple buckets of sanitizer with undetectable amounts of sanitizer.

One of the coolers was unable to maintain the correct temperature.

There were also some broken thermometers.

Buzzard Billy’s/The Brazos Landing at 100 North Jack Kultgen Expressway in Waco failed a renewal inspection with an 89.

According to the food safety worker, the sliced eggplant, bacon wrapped chicken, raw lobster, cooked sausage, and mozzarella, the crab cake, raw shrimp, and raw chicken were not kept at the right temperature.

The sour cream and the meatballs in the walk-in cooler were thrown out.

The reach-in cooler at the line could not maintain the right temperature.

It is no longer being used and will be fixed.

La Cocina Tex Mex at 1000 North Robinson drive in Robinson failed a re-inspection with a 90.

According to the food safety worker, the cooked beef and chicken were not kept at the right temperature.

They were re-heated.

There was no detectable sanitizer in the sanitizer bucket.

There was no certified food manager on-site at the time of the inspection.

There were some unapproved fly strips hanging in the kitchen.

They were thrown out.

All of these places needed a re-inspection.

And this week’s Clean Plate award winner Taqueria la Puerta at 6500 North 19th Street.

According to its Facebook page, this is a small Mexican family-owned food truck business.
